Can You Control Acne?

Remember, back in the day, all those commercials that promised us their products would work miracles on our complexion? With slogans like, ZAP that zit! Yes, we have all seen them. The ads for acne remedies were my favorite. They got so many acne afflicted teenagers psyched about curing their skin conditions, only to eventually discover that the miracle pimple creams were bogus.

Have you actually found Clearasil or other Oxy products to eliminate zits on contact? My favorite commercial was the one where the teenage boy was in his bedroom. He looked in the mirror one morning and saw several humongous blemishes on his face. No fear, Oxy 10 is here. He squeezed out a bit on his fingertip and started nuking those pesky pimples. With a cool bomb-like sound effect, they disappeared instantly. Yeah right! To really control and reduce acne in the real world, it takes a bit more effort and, some time.

War Of The Zits

It would be safe to say that acne is one of the most detested skin afflictions. It's definitely one of the most common ones. Once you reach the puberty years, all bets are off, as the odds are not in your favor. You should be prepared for the inevitable war of the zits. Blame it on teenage hormones. There are, however, effective ways to control your acne problem. What you need is the right information.

First of all, I can't stress enough how important your diet is in this process. If you eat junk food constantly, it's time to quit. It adds to your already problematic hormone swings. Also, tons of fat and sugar are detrimental to your health. Start with a well-balanced and healthy diet while you're still young. You'll be happy you did when you get older.

Skin Care Systems

Secondly, you can help to fight acne with the right skin care system. These will usually consist of a few different products. A cleanser is a must. Find one that gently cleans your skin so that you'll be less likely to over-dry your skin. You'll also want a topical medication of some kind. There are many acne remedies available, but that doesn't mean they all work. Check out Proactiv Solution or, a prescription remedy like Differin from your family doctor. These two get good reviews.

There are also little things that you can do for the health of your skin and to help control acne. One of them is to drink a lot of water. Another is to get plenty of sleep. Also, you can take tepid—as opposed to hot—showers to avoid over-drying your skin. Every little bit helps.
